A Celebration of Scottish Songwriting
Date: Friday 18th September
Time: 7:30pm (doors 7pm)
Venue: Paisley Town Hall
Join A Celebration Of Scottish Songwriting featuring Michael Cassidy, Justin Currie, Dougie MacLean, Findlay Napier, Emma Pollock and Eddi Reader on Friday 18th September.
Six hugely talented and very individual songwriters explore Scotland’s vast treasure trove of words and music in a unique, one-off performance for Paisley. Each artist will play some of their own material alongside their favourite songs by other Scottish writers.
Drawn from the alternative, folk, rock and pop worlds and all points in between, the lineup features the authors of some of the nation’s greatest hits including Dougie MacLean’s alternative national anthem Caledonia, just one among his many classic folk compositions; and no less than 15 Top 40 singles from Justin Currie’s Del Amitri in addition to his formidable body of solo work. Eddi Reader and Findlay Napier are two consummate artists now most at home in the folk scene but whose talent and vision stretches far beyond it in myriad musical directions and the programme is completed by two great contemporary performers: former Delgados singer Emma Pollock, now an acclaimed solo artist, and Paisley’s own Michael Cassidy, one of the country’s most promising singer-songwriters.
